UGH!

I blow. I know. It was supposed to be a DAILY DRAWING thing, but I couldn't keep it up. I forgot one day, put it off the next, and then it was a nasty, slippery slope. And to top things off, my trials for Photoshop and Painter have both run out lol. So no more digital art for a while, until I can buy PS (or you know, go that usual route....) I promise I'll try and get some stuff up. How about I post up two pages from my graphic novel project? Sound good? So yeah, you can expect to see those in the next couple of days.

Daily Drawing #4

OK, so I know that these 'daily drawings' haven't quite been so 'daily'. But as some of you know I've been really busy getting ready to apply to college. May not be a big deal for some, but it's been a little nerve-wrecking and problematic for me. But whatever, here's the drawing. I like how she turned out, but it looked a little bare so I added the big guy in the back. He didn't turn out quite as well as I had hoped, but it could've been worse.

Daily Drawing #3

Yeah, another calligraphy pen drawing. I don't know what it is that's keeping me doing them this way, but I can't stop. I really like the 'fast' feeling of drawing with calligraphy pen. I don't know, I supposed I'll start doing these drawings with something different, it'll probably still be ink though. I like not having the option to erase, it helps me not to overthink and try to keep re-doing things.

Daily Drawing #2

Still done with calligraphy pen. A lot more risque than usual but I wanted to try something different. It's also one of the first scenes in the graphic novel I'm working on, so bonus for you guys. You get a new daily drawing to look at as well as a 'sneak peek' at my awesome graphic novel project.

Daily Drawing #1

This is just a big glut of nothing I did while breaking in my shiny new calligraphy pen.

Lucky Lucy

Ok so, after my month-long hiatus I'm back with a new pic for you all to see. Now, it's my first attempt at using Painter but I think it turned out fine. Of course there's plenty of room for improvement but whatever, I like it. The picture is supposed to represent a sort of oxymoron, with the character's name being 'Lucky Lucy' and her rocket breaking down on her.

I suppose I could've done more in the way of a background, but everything I tried felt out of place. I figured I might as well just let it be finished in the state where I was comfortable looking at it, and not force another element into the picture. It's been the downfall of much of my work in the past.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy 'Lucky Lucy', and be sure to let me know if you'd like to see me start doing do a daily drawing type thing.

A proposition for you.

So, I was thinking that since I've been so busy lately, and haven't been posting new, complete art on a regular basis, how would you all like if I started doing a 'daily drawing' type thing? It wouldn't be cut and colored (finished) pieces, but it'd be something to look at. I feel I owe it to those two or three of you who look and comment on my art regularly.

So whadaya think?

Circular Motions

Another pic. I'm not sure why I've been using so many circles to fill in negative space lately, I guess I just like how it looks.

Barfly

I like the way she turned out, but I'm not as satisfies with the table and chair. I couldn't get the right look for them.

And for those of you who are confused about the rounded table top, you have my apologies. I guess the concept doesn't translate well to a still medium. It's supposed to be a sort of gelatinous material that you'd set your drink on, and the base of your glass would just be suspended in this material, not spilling a drop of your most precious alcohol.

U.S. Army Infantryman.

So I did this just as an exercise to try and get better at doing the ACU digital cammies. For a first try I think it turned out pretty decent.

You Could Have It So Much Better!

After a slight hiatus I'm back with more art in tow. This picture is titled "You Could Have It So Much Better!" after the Franz Ferdinand album. I also used the color scheme from the album cover. Enjoy.

Bombs Over Bexhill

So yeah, I'm pretty tired so there isn't gonna be much explanation here. It's called 'Bombs Over Bexhill', her name is Rasha, her gun is cool ( I think so anyway).

Hi, Hilda!

Here's the semi-slazzy bounty hunter, Hilda.

I'm guessing she likes pink.

Just a colored version of a pic I posted a while back. I probably should've cleaned up the lines a bit, but when I started coloring it I was just doing so for fun, and didn't plan on finishing it. Oh well. Enjoy.

And now we meet our heroine.

I've had her look in my head ever since I first began work on this story so it feels really good to finally get it out and show to all of you. So without further ado, I'd like you all to meet Mieke.

Kitty Cortez

Another character from the same story as Black Stacey. I did this one fairly quickly since I just wanted to get the idea out of my head.

Black Stacey Abernathy.

So this is a colored pic of an image I posted a while back. She's a major character in a story I'm currently working on (more details on that later). The colors are really basic and solid, as I wanted almost a 'Pop-Art' feel. Or like something you'd see in the early '90s as far as colors go. Enjoy.

Tres-Ciento.

So I saw 300 on Friday and I was blown away. Some of the best cinematography this side of Children of Men. Some might say that the dialogue was melodramatic, or that slo-mo was overused, I'd say fuck those people. The movie was awesome and if you don't agree then the terrorists have already won.....

Fun Fact: The majority of people in communist countries didn't know about vampires until around 1992.

Popbot pic.

So I've been trying to work with more colors lately, as I'm mostly used to doing b&w work and I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I did this painting of Ashley Wood's 'Popbot' with watercolors and I'm semi-satisfied with how it turned out. I think it looks a bit too monochromatic.

Clap your hands say yeah?

Quickie.

Pin-upish chic.

So this sketch came after a friend suggested I try and inject a bit of finesse and grace into some of my characters. He referred me to the artist Olivia De Berardinis, who does some great paintings of pin-ups. I took his advice and did this quick sketch. I tried to make the character a little softer, but still have some emotion.

Watercolor!

Here are a couple watercolor comps. I try painting but I'm not very good at it, however recently a friend suggested I try watercolors and ink so I did these two just to get a feel for using watercolors (which I honestly haven't used since elementary school.)

Manmade Angel.

Another quick pic. I usually lean toward a looser line but lately I've been experimenting with clean, defined lines, as you can see in 'Mother' as well as this next picture.

Mother.

This is just quick pic of a mother and her baby. I didn't plan on doing anything like this at first but I started with a female face and it pretty much just finished it self.
